Description
Barry J. Nidorf School (BJNS) is part of the Division of Student Programs (DSP) operated by the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). BJNS instructs and serves students who either have been adjudicated or are awaiting adjudication under the authority of the Los Angeles County Juvenile Court. The school is located within the Juvenile Hall and has three separate wings, North School, Compound School and South School. Barry J. Nidorf School provides educational services to students ages 13-18. The average stay for these students at the hall is 10-14 days. These students are awaiting adjudication, transfer to community placements, or probation camps. In addition, BJNS houses students awaiting transfer to The Department of Juvenile Justice Prevention (DJJP), formerly known as the California Youth Authority (CYA), or the California Department of Corrections (CDC).
